THE RAIN FOR MY PARADE
One day I was feeling blue and this song kind of popped into my head and sort of wrote itself. Originally I thought it would end up with some kind of meandering blues solo, but then I remembered that I can't actually play blues solos very well so shelved that idea for now
I think the words pretty much speak for themselves and it's a straight up pop/blues track
This song was born out of a trip to Dublin, Ireland
There was so much great acoustic music every I went it was a great place to listen for ideas. This is also the first song I've ever attempted in anything other than straight 4/4 rock rhythm. So the title, while being the time signature of the song, also represents trying something new and taking a new direction previously unexplored

PUDDLE JUMPING
This is Kind of a Strange one
I got the idea for it last winter when I was out walking with the kids and I saw how much fun a rainy day could be if you focused on jumping in the puddles rather than on how cold and wet it was. So while Puddle Jumping doesn’t actually appear in the lyrics it’s kind of the theme of the choruses. Other than that the song is sort of a progression through life and love into a new stage of life. |
